Fly Fishing 101  (2 Hours) Go to:  Rates
The basic building block to start to fly fish is casting. Without being able to make a cast, fly casting becomes "rod waving." Either as a total beginner or someone that needs a refresher casting lesson, this class addresses the fundamental dynamics
of fly casting. Based on the "Five Essentials of Fly Casting".

The focus of this class is geared 100% to casting. Sufficient time is spent practicing with rod in hand such that the student walks away with defined learned skills and a comfort level with casting fundamentals as well as an elevated level of confidence. Waders are not necessary for this class.

What you will learn:

      - The dynamics of fly casting using the Five Casting Essentials
      - About rod loading
      - Controlling line direction
      - How to make tight loops and open loops
      - Variable speed casting & line control
      - Help overcoming windy conditions

Types of Casts:

      -  Pick-up and Lay-down Cast
      -  Backhand Cast
      -  Sidearm Cast
      -  Roll Cast
      -  Roll Cast Pick-up

After concentrating on perfecting their cast, the student can progress to the "Fly Fishing 201" course to learn how to: make equipment selections, tie required knots, begin making fly selections, and to start fly fishing with some certainty that they know what they are doing.
