2010 Steelhead Trip Details

The 2010 Steelhead trip is a great trip for anyone that would like to catch large, wild migratory fish in a natural stream environment. These fish have bulked up
on shiners for the majority of the year while out in Lake Erie.

•  A Steelhead is a migratory strain of Rainbow that's naturally wild

•  Mostly fresh "Chromers" just in from Lake Erie

•  Big Fish… Last year's average range was 27" - 33" with large girths

•  See the 2009 Trip pictures!  The pictures don't lie.

•  Fishing the Lake Erie tributaries from Buffalo to the NY/PA border

•  Small, wadeable streams for the most part

•  Often double-digit days fishing both pools and pocket water

•  Typically cool Fall weather mornings

•  Layering is key as sometimes it's hot and other times more brisk

•  Bring a waterproof rain jacket and some fingerless gloves

•  7-weight or 8-weight rods

•  Weight Forward floating lines

•  Fluorocarbon tippet material with B and BB size split shot

•  Egg patterns, nymphs, and small silhouette streamers

•  We typically fish our brains out the entire day but go at your own pace

•  Each angler can decide where they would like to fish for the day

•  This is not a competition but selective bragging is allowed

•  We're all just fly fishermen trying to have a good time doing what we all     enjoy doing - chasing big fish with a fly rod.

•  Typical day: Leave at 7:00am after breakfast and return at 5:30 -     6:00pm

•  At the end of the day, we get together for dinner, a few drinks, and     compare the day's experiences (or tell a few lies)
